HP SUM provides a GUI and a command-line scriptable interface for deploying:
Firmware for network-based targeted server options and components such as iLOs and Onboard Administrators, VC Ethernet and Fiber Channel modules.
Software for HP ProLiant servers in both Windows and Linux environments
All users: Ensure that any firewalls between this system running HP SUM and the target servers are opened for the necessary management ports, such as SSH and HTTP. For more information on the ports HP SUM uses and changing firewall settings, see the HP Smart Update Manager User Guide or HP Smart Update Manager Online Help.
Provides an integrated hardware and software discovery engine that discovers the installed hardware and current versions of firmware and software used on target servers.
Installs updates in the correct order to ensure all dependencies are met before deploying a firmware update.
Prevents extraneous network traffic by sending only required components to a selected host server.
Prevents version-based dependencies from destroying an installation and ensures firmware updates are handled efficiently to minimize downtime.
